Smok'n Spice 1st Cook

My first use of the product was on an apple smoked bacon pork tenderloin from Sam's.  For some reason, I love this cut of their's.

RSI - Resuable Smoke Infuser

RSI lid and body

Mediterranean Blend pellets

Filled RSI about 1/2 way

Put lid back on RSI
Found a use for my Weber Spirit

Front view of RSI on grill grate

Lit RSI with torch for about 30-45 seconds as instructed

Placed meat on unlit grill as instructed and let smoke for about 90 minutes

Final sliced product after smoked on the Memphis Elite

The food had a sweeter taste than on previous cooks I had made.  I am speculating that was due to the Smok'n Spice pellets, but I will leave that up to Chris to confirm.  I enjoyed the enhancement it made to the pork loin.  I plan to do a pizza with the oregano pellets today.

Meatrakes

I plan to try the Meatrakes this weekend to pull some pork shoulder.

Smok'n Spice

Here is the next trend in the BBQ industry - Smok'n Spice.  Pellets made out of 100% herbs.  There are 3 flavors right now - Oregano, Sage, and Mediterranean Blend.  I can't wait to give these a try this weekend.  I purchased the RSI (Reusable Smoke Infuser) to smoke them.  There are 2 other disposable products that can be purchased too.

The unit is to be used as a cold smoker which means you lite it on a grill that is turned off.  You let your food get the smoke flavor infused into it, remove the RSI, and then lite your grill to cook/smoke the food.  I believe I am going to try a pizza with the oregano pellets first.

The RSI Kit with 1/2 lb of each of the 3 current flavors.

One pound refill kits.

Cutlery and More Shipment #4

I managed to find a few more interesting things that I thought I needed.

This baby will sharpen Asian (Santoku) and standard European knives with a different sharpener and honer for each style of knife - 4 stage sharpener.

I wanted to buy another gravity pepper mill like a did few months ago, but they are no longer carrying them on clearance.  I ended up buying this electronic stainless steel salt mill.  I intend to use it to grind the flavored, Hawaiian sea salts I got in Hawaii seven years ago.

Cutlery and More Shipment #3

Here is the 3rd (and I think final) shipment from http://www.cutleryandmore.com/ .  There is another knife guard, a 2nd digital dual probe thermometer since I liked the first one so much, 2 spare grill brush heads for the Raichlen grill brush I bought earlier, a $10 gravity pepper mill, a $4 set of tongs with silicon tips, and 2 more pair of the $2 grill tongs.

Cutlery and More Shipment #2

Here is the 2nd shipment from http://www.cutleryandmore.com/ .  There are knife guards (the original reason I am aware of this website from several years ago), a $1.97 set of tongs, and a self locking set of tongs.

Amazin Smoker

A few weeks ago, I drove up to Racine, WI to pick up some wood pellets from http://www.cookinpellets.com/.  While I was there, I bought the Amazin Smoker that he developed.  I burned off the oils on it last night.  I plan to try it this weekend or next.  It is supposed to smoke for up to 11 hours if you only light one end to start the smoldering.
